Thank you for allowing me to join you in 2016 for a great elk hunt at your beautiful ranch.  Over the week we saw plenty of elk, but I chose to wait for a bigger trophy.  I had my opportunity on the last day and was rewarded for my patience.  What an elk!!  He is now hanging above my fireplace.  I cannot say enough about your great staff and hospitality.  Thank you for allowing me to join you again this coming season.  I will be bringing my friend Mike Drenth.  I am impressed with the family style operation that you run.  Your honesty and frankness is humbling.   When I arrived I met an outfitter, when I left I had gained a friend.  All the best see you next fall.

I hunted with the Halmes family of Lepley Creek Outfitters in early Nov. 2014 It was my first elk hunt. It was really a treat to be hunting up in the mountains of Montana. We saw 100s of elk each day and those guys really know what they are doing. They never let up until we found a decent bull. They treat everyone like family and the food and lodging were great. The Halmes family books the hunts and are there guiding the hunts. No middle man involved. Spectacular views, great hunting, and wonderful people

I have been a “do it yourself” hunter since I was 14. Now, so much of my time is spent at work and with family, leaving me less and less time to focus on my passion. This past year, three of us decided to go on our first guided elk hunting trip with Lepley Creek Outfitters near Cascade MT. Frankly, I didn’t know what to expect as I have heard many stories about both good and bad experiences with hunting outfits. I was pleasantly surprised. For six days we hunted hard and when we had our elk down, the guides focused on mule deer. The menu was well planned and food quality exceeded my expectations. The guides worked very hard and when animals could not be found, they worked harder. But most of all, the guides and cooks were solid folks with good character.  I am happy to consider them all friends and look forward to hunting and fishing with them in the future.

Going for the first time on the Missouri River was a experience that was so enjoyable that I wonder why I waited so long when I live 25 miles from a great fishing river. On top of that I am a real novice when it comes to fly fishing and Jake helped me,furnished me with equipment and most of all untangled my line numerous times. But what I enjoyed most of all was the fact that we were successful in catching fish with my limited ability that was great and owe it all to Jakes ability, time and effort.
